Things are getting a bit nutty here in my world. My computer is acting silly again, and I'm supposed to be going abroad in 4 days! I thought I was being super adventurous picking a last-minute vacation like this. Now I realize that I have a ridiculous amount of things to do, and no time.
I'll be honest. I haven't been eating a lot of cheese the past week or so. I haven't been eating a lot of anything but burritos and delivery. And caffeine. Mmmmm espresso.
One thing I did manage to try a few days ago was this lovely ice cream. As you well know by now, I love goat cheese. I've got a little crush on it, and want everyone else in the world to say "YES!" to goat's milk cheeses. I found this goat milk based ice cream at the Whole Foods near me and thought it might be tasty. I was right. It was creamy and tangy and smooth. There are little pieces of fig throughout, and the ice cream itself had a pleasant, almost fluffy texture to it. Kind of like goat's milk gelato.
There's finally an ice cream for people who are lactose intolerant, people who loves goat's milk, and people who have good taste and a Whole Foods nearby.

Goat cheese and figs are one of the more perfect pairings in the known cheese universe. No surprise then that this ice cream is scrumptious.

I am going to do my best to do a few more posts before Thursday. I am not going to be bringing my computer with me though so you'll have to wait to hear all about the London trip until I come back! I hope that you guys are all enjoying your chocolate. Maybe I'll find something in London to bring back and share.

I got the chocolate yesterday in the mail!! Yeah!! It is also still looking in perfect shape after travelling half the world. It broke in the middle (just a crack) but that will not diminish the taste. I haven't opened it yet... waiting for the right moment to try it... Mmmm, thanks so much for sending this! I have your address now, so I will send the stroopwafels out to you soon! They are a little more delicate then chocolate, so I hope they reach you in one piece too. If not, they taste fabulous in bits and pieces too.... Although I am just thinking; if you're going to London. Should I wait with sending untill you're back?
MMMMM...this ice cream sounds amazing..I love figs. Unfortunately, no Whole Foods near me :(
I tried so hard to eat the chocolate slowly, and I managed pretty well...I have 1 little square I'm holding off on 'til the perfect moment (tee hee). I meant to send something out to you Sat, but the woman who runs the booth at the Farmer's Market (where I went to pick it up) is home w/ sick kids. I plan to go back Tues when they're open next. I'll still send it cuz it should hold until you get back....unless you'd rather I wait. If you want me to wait, shoot me a quick email, otherwise I'll go ahead and get it out! And thanks a million x again...I loved it so much :)
Junglefrog: I can't believe the chocolate got to you relatively unscathed! I hope you enjoy. I'll be back in town next week if you'd like to send me the stroopwafels some time next week that'd be great!
Girlichef: No Whole Foods? What is this world coming to ;) Thanks for whatever treat you send me. I'm hoping it comes before I leave, but if not, it will be a welcome treat when I come back.
I look forward to my mailbox being filled with goodies during the next few weeks.
I will send them to you somewhere next week, so they should arrive (hopefully) once your back!
I love the chocolate! I had not expected for the cheese to come through quite strongly, but I love it! Interesting combination of flavours! I still have a bit left... Enjoying it slowly!!
Totally got my chocolate too... and I have your goodies all packed up and ready to go. I think I'll wait til you get back from London, though!
As for goat's milk icecream, I haven't tried this kind yet. However, I have a great source for this figgie delight at our local Outpost Natural Foods Coop. We also have a Whole Foods... but I'm going to go local whenever I can! YUM.
